Abstract

This article analyzes the dual transition Mexico and South American countries underwent during the 1998-2005 years: the five-year economic crisis described by José Antonio Ocampo, and the regime changes. It also attempts to offer a stylized comparison of the political routes those countries followed during the first two decades of the 21st Century.
